Investing in our Transport Future – A Strategic Investment Framework for Land Transport
In August last, the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport invited submissions from stakeholders, interested parties and the general public on a Report developing a Strategic Investment Framework for Land Transport. Submissions were also sought on its associated environmental reports.
Following on from the public consultation process, the Framework has now been finalised. The Framework which was based on a wide-ranging policy analysis exercise, aims to establish key principles and priorities to guide transport investment over the coming decades. A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the framework was also undertaken in accordance with the EU SEA Directive to fully integrate environmental considerations into the Framework.
On 15th April 2015 the Government considered the findings and conclusions of the complete body of work relating to the Strategic Investment Framework for Land Transport and agreed to the publication by the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport of Investing in Our Transport Future (the Framework summary), the Final Report of the Steering Group, its associated consultation report, Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Statement and Natura Impact Report.
